A Merry Chase

Last night, several corpmates and I went for a roam in 0.0. It was pretty dead and we ended up in RAIDEN alliance space. We had a cheetah cloaked and scouting in one system while we were on the gate next door. A RAIDEN Lachesis jumped into us with predictable results.

That was cool but what happened afterwards was the exciting part. The scout saw RAIDEN come barreling out of their station like a kicked wasp nest. They set up four guardians and bubbled the gate with multiple shiny ships that ended up at least double our number.  We scattered to various safes except for one intoxicated fleetmate. For inexplicable reasons, he jumped into the gate camp and died quick. He also got a one way ticket home on the pod express.

We tried to get out of go home but they had bubbled our two ways out. Our cloaky scouted the route but it was a bad deal. We decided to log off for 10 minutes to see if they got bored. The scout stayed on to keep an eye on things but they weren't leaving. We decided to log the scout off to completely clear the system.

After 10 more minutes, he logged on and saw the gate was clear so we made our move. We all logged back in and warped to the gate and jumped. We started running for home with our cheetah one system ahead. Suddenly we saw RAIDEN guys appear in local. The race was on! It was slow going because two of us were in battleships and Anon was in the Harbinger with the align time of an ice cream truck.

Each jump got them close to our heels and our Harbinger pilot decided to warp to a planet and log. The rest of us made it to low sec and docked just as local flooded with more RAIDEN guys. They talked smack a little bit but I know they were pissed that we killed one of them in their home system and then outsmarted their little trap. There was no joy in RAIDENville tonight.

After waiting a little longer, we went back out into 0.0 and scouted Anon back into low sec and then I called it a night. It was probably one of the more exciting times I've had in a long time.
